Mount Meru is one of Africa's highest and most beautiful volcanoes. The route to the summit passes through parkland, montane forest, a giant heather zone and moorland.
Finally, the summit is reached by a narrow, barren ridge which provides stunning views of the Ash Cone lying several thousand feet below in the crater and Kilimanjaro in the background. Over 400 species of birds, elephant, buffalo, baboon, warthog, black and white Colobus monkey and duiker are all found in this delightful "gem amongst parks".

Itinerary
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met outside customs area by Kibo Expeditions driver guide and your head mountain guide holding a sign board written clearly your booking name and drive to Arusha for overnight
Overnight Lodge in Arusha on bed and breakfast basis
After breakfast and climb briefing transfer to Momella gate in Arusha National Park for registration at entrance gate. Start climb with your guides and armed ranger, crossing open plains filled with buffalo and giraffe before climbing up through Montane forest, replete with the calls of Colobus Monkeys and Hornbill to Miriakamba Hut, on the lip of Meru crater.
Dinner and Overnight at MIRIAKAMBA HUT (BLD)
An early start to admire sunrise over distant Kilimanjaro before walking into Meru Crater for a foot safari amongst the primeval landscape and looming 200ft high walls that lead up to the summit. We then continue our climb via the 'Little Meru' outcrop to Saddle Hut, located on the ridge that climbs up to Socialist Peak. Dinner and Overnight at SADDLE HUT (BLD)
You will be awaken in midnight and start with your guide leading the way up the occasionally - narrow ridge that falls away to the Crater below, arriving at Socialist Peak as the sun rises. After summit we descend down the same ridge as the wind begins to pick up, passing Saddle hut to Miriakamba for a celebration dinner and a well-earned rest

We finish the walk and arriving at Momella Gate and meet Kibo Expedions driver guide and transfer to your lodge for lunch and dayroom and proceed with Safari or Zanzibar extension. End of Mount Meru climb
