Kilimanjaro

Rising 19,340 feet (5,895m) out of the Masai Steppe, Kilimanjaro is wreathed in legend and history.

Africa's highest mountain, the highest free-standing mountain in the world and as high a major summit as an average trekker can go, it is also one of the Seven Summits, the seven highest points on each continent in the world.

Kilimanjaro is composed of three volcanoes: Kibo (19,340 ft/5895 m), Mawenzi (16,896 ft/5149 m), and Shira (13,00 ft/3,962 m). It's name is a mystery, but may be derived from two words "kilima" and "njaro". Strangely, "kilima" means small hill.

The "njaro" part is unclear. It has many meanings including "demon who creates cold". Kilimanjaro – The small hill who creates cold; trust me, this is NO small hill!

GAME VIEWING SERVICE

Game viewing from the vehicle is one of the core activities of a wildlife safari. Drives are conducted in the morning and evening, but depending on time of year and weather conditions may extend throughout the day. It is often best to head out for a game drive very early after a quick cup of coffee and a muffin, returning later for a leisurely breakfast. Alternatively a camp breakfast could be followed by a long morning game scouting drive with a picnic carried along and eaten whenever the opportunity presents itself. Evening game drives are generally very rewarding, and it is during these times that we expect the best light for photography and enjoying the ever magnificent African bush scenery.
